EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo: Key Moments and Strategies

The final table of the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo was an international affair, with players from various countries, including two from Germany: Alem Shah and Daniel Cink. Mikhail Tulchinsky, a representative of the 'old school' of Russian poker, was in fourth place by stack size. The final table featured players from multiple countries, with two representing Germany: Alem Shah and Daniel Cink.

In a notable hand, Peter Trapli went all-in with Ad Kh against Daq Martin Mikkelsen's Qh Qc. The board showed 8h, 5c, 2h, Td, 6s, and Trapli was eliminated in 8th place. Mikhail Tulchinsky opened the bank with a bet of 425,000, and Matthew Woodward called from the big blind. The flop was Kc, 3h, 3s, and both players checked. On the turn 6h, Woodward bet 475,000, and Tulchinsky called. The river was Ts, and Woodward checked. Tulchinsky thought for a long time but decided to check as well. Woodward showed As 2d and won the hand. After the tournament, Mikhail admitted that he made a mistake in this hand.

Peter De Korver, considered the weakest player at the final table, had a series of successful comparisons that allowed him to catch up with the other players. In a crucial hand, Daq Martin Mikkelsen, who built his bankroll playing SnG tournaments, was eliminated after a crucial hand against Peter De Korver.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
