Entain Faces £615M Fine for Turkish Bribery Scandal

Entain, a major online gambling company, has agreed to pay a £615 million fine as part of a deferred prosecution agreement with the UK's Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).

The settlement is related to legacy activities in Turkey, which violated the UK's Bribery Act of 2010. Entain has agreed to pay a £585 million penalty as part of a deferred prosecution agreement with the UK's Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for legacy activities related to its former operations in Turkey. The investigation, launched by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) in 2019, focused on Entain's Turkish-facing operations, which were sold off six years ago.

The bribery allegations involved both prior company officials and former third-party suppliers to the firm. In addition to the £585 million in fines and profit disgorgement, the settlement will also include a charitable donation of £20 million and a £10 million assessment to cover HMRC and CPS expenses. Entain's Chairman, Barry Gibson, stated that the company is now committed to moving forward in a more responsible manner.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
