EGBA Predicts €126.3 Billion in European Gambling Revenue by 2026
The European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) has predicted a steady rise in European gambling revenue by 2026. The EGBA's annual report predicts that 2021 will see a 7.5% increase in gambling revenue, reaching €87.2bn, up from €81.1bn in 2020.
However, this improvement is still well below the 2019 figure of €100.6bn. The report highlights a clear pattern in the gambling industry, with online betting showing significant growth while land-based operations struggle to recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The EGBA predicts that 2026 will see €126.3bn in gambling revenue. Online gambling revenue is expected to double by 2026 compared to 2019. In 2021, 50.5% of all bets were placed online, a statistic expected to rise to 61.5% by 2026. Land-based gambling is expected to see only a 0.4% increase at the end of 2021, a 31.8% drop from 2019. Maarten Haijer, Secretary General of EGBA, emphasized the need for well-regulated online markets and the use of the latest technologies to promote safer gambling.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
