Dykalis: From Dota to Poker – A Russian Player's Journey
Dykalis, a Russian poker player, has an interesting backstory. His nickname comes from a character in a popular Russian TV series from the 90s. Dykalis is 24 years old and lives in the Moscow region. He has been playing poker for over four years, primarily at NL50–NL200 limits. His journey into poker is unique; he transitioned from playing Dota to poker.
One of Dykalis' notable achievements is his participation in a poker marathon, which was streamed and watched by 1,300 people at its peak. He practices Kundalini yoga and enjoys watching StarCraft, which he played briefly during its beta phase. His favorite food during his marathon was high in carbohydrates, including grechka, macaroni, rice, and whole-grain bread with cheese.
Dykalis' first significant poker win was around $220, which he won in a SNG tournament with $2.50 starting capital. He rates his poker skills around 6.55 out of 10 among non-recreational players. Dykalis believes his strength lies in his ability to see situations more holistically, combining creativity, psychology, and mathematics in his gameplay.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
