Durrrr's Million-Dollar Poker Challenge: The Epic Battle
In January 2009, Tom Dwan, known as Durrrr, issued a challenge to any player worldwide for a heads-up poker match. Dwan proposed a match with 4 tables, a minimum bet of $200/$400, and a total of 50,000 hands. The challenge was accepted by Phil Ivey, David Benjamin, and Patrick Antonius. Patrick Antonius was the first to accept the challenge, choosing Pot-Limit Omaha.
After 12,000 hands, Antonius led by about $500,000, but Dwan quickly turned the tables and took a lead of $726,546. The match went on hiatus for two months before resuming with Antonius winning $392,347.50 and $415,311.50 in two sessions.
The Durrrr Challenge has been one of the most talked-about events in the poker world, showcasing the skills of some of the game's top players. The high stakes and intense competition have made it a memorable event for poker fans worldwide.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
