The 'Doyle Brunson' Poker Hand is Famous Even in Pakistani Prisons

The poker hand 10-2 is known worldwide as the 'Doyle Brunson' hand. This hand, made famous by Doyle Brunson, has become so iconic that it is recognized even in the most unlikely of places, including Pakistani prison cells.

Eric Ode's Experience in a Pakistani Prison

Eric Ode, an American actor, stuntman, and poker player, spent three years in a Pakistani prison. He was sentenced to 7 years in prison in 2002 for transporting opium. During his time in prison, Eric Ode learned to play poker from another inmate. The game helped him pass the time and even win small prizes like food.

Eric Ode released a documentary titled '3 years in Pakistan' about his experience. In the documentary, he mentions that the inmates, including those on death row, played poker and recognized the 'Doyle Brunson' hand. Doyle Brunson won the WSOP Main Event in 1976 and 1977 with the 10-2 hand, making it a historic and iconic poker hand.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
