Poker Pro Dave 'Viffer' Peat: Cheating is Part of the Game
Poker player Dave 'Viffer' Peat recently caused a stir by tweeting that he thinks cheating is a normal part of the game. He stated, “Cheating is part of poker, some of the best players were the ones that never got caught. Being a good cheat used to be a prerequisite to get into poker hall of fame. Remove every cheater or accused cheater from hall of fame and you will find a lot of empty walls.”
His comments come amidst a recent scandal involving a marked deck in a high-stakes private game at Hustler Casino Live. Over $3 million was said to have been scammed in this game by Mars and his alleged crew, sending the poker community into a bit of fury.
Nik Airball, one of the alleged victims of the latest private game scam, was obviously against this idea. He tweeted, “Let’s out them all and have empty walls. Old generation fine with hiding cheaters and letting them keep playing. If you know of cheating and don’t say anything you’re as bad as the cheater.” Dan 'Jungleman12' Cates was less than happy at what was being proposed. Dave 'Viffer' Peat explained that he wanted to be a better father and that was impossible while trying to play poker at the highest level.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
