Chris Moneymaker's Wild Night in Las Vegas After WSOP Win
Chris Moneymaker won the World Series of Poker Main Event on 23 May 2003. After his victory, Moneymaker and his then-wife were invited to Las Vegas in early July 2003 for interviews and a photo session. The group dined at Yolie's, a traditional Brazilian steakhouse in Las Vegas. The group drank several rounds of caipirinha, a traditional Brazilian cocktail made with cachaça, lime, sugar, and ice.
Nolan Dalla, a friend and then-media director of PokerStars, invited the group to a poker game at Binion's. At the poker table, Chris Moneymaker played against Sam Grizzl, Benny Benen, and others. Nick Benen, who was not allowed in Binion's, challenged Chris Moneymaker to a heads-up match for $10,000. Chris Moneymaker lost the heads-up match against Nick Benen.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
