Chanracy Khun Defeats Doug Polk to Win WSOP Heads Up Championship

Chanracy Khun, a player from Canada, won the WSOP $25k Heads Up Championship by defeating Doug Polk in the final. This victory earned Khun his first gold bracelet and a prize of $507,020. The tournament started with 64 players, and notable early eliminations included Phil Ivey, who was defeated by John Smith in the first round.

Doug Polk, known for his skills in online high-stakes poker, had a strong run in the tournament. He defeated Reiji Kono and Roberto Perez to reach the semi-finals. In the semi-finals, Polk faced Chris Brewer and narrowly avoided elimination after a remarkable bad beat. Polk took a lead after more than two hours of play in the final, but Khun battled back, sniffing out a bluff and explaining afterwards: “I just went with my gut feeling. I thought he was bluffing that hand for sure.”

Khun's path to the final included victories over Alexandre Veulleumier, Landon Tice, and Sean Winter in the semi-finals. Despite facing one of the best players in the world, Khun managed to secure his victory. After the match, Khun expressed his relief and joy, stating, “I feel really good. I'm relieved... And it's tough to find any words, but it's a mix of emotions. But at the end of the day, I'm really, really glad it's over.”
