Canadian Man Convicted for Stealing Flamingo from Las Vegas Casino

Mitchell Fairbarn, 34, was found guilty of misdemeanor and felony counts of animal cruelty for the March abduction of a flamingo named “Peachy” from the Flamingo Casino. Security video footage showed Fairbairn carrying the bird to his room. Fairbairn now faces up to four years in prison for the felony count and six months for the misdemeanor. A veterinarian testified that the incident injured Peachy, the flamingo, causing seven or eight missing feathers, broken shafts, and blood loss. Fairbairn testified that he snatched the bird as a “silly pranky joke” after consuming about 30 to 40 beers throughout the day.
