California Launches Multi-Year Campaign to Combat Problem Gambling
California has launched a new problem gambling awareness campaign called 'The Odds Don’t Have to Stay Against You'. The campaign, initiated by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), will run through July 2029. It aims to offer no-cost treatments and improve early detection of problem gambling.
At least half a million Californians have reported symptoms of problem gambling. The campaign seeks to connect Californians with relevant resources for no-cost services. CDPH Director and State Public Health Officer, Dr. Erica Pan, commented on the launch, emphasizing the importance of early recognition and access to help.
The campaign was launched on September 17 and will deliver clear, relatable, and empathetic messaging. It is designed to help Californians recognize the signs of gambling-related harm and provide a clear, compassionate path to support.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
