Caesars Entertainment Poised to Dominate Maine's Online Poker Scene

Maine has legalized online gaming and poker through its four federally-recognized tribes, paving the way for a significant shift in the state's digital gaming landscape. Caesars Entertainment has secured long-term agreements with three Wabanaki Nations groups—the Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians, the Mi’kmaq Nation, and the Penobscot Nation—for a potential online gaming launch in 2026. This partnership is crucial as it allows Caesars to operate a shared poker platform across multiple states, including Nevada, New Jersey, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.

Caesars Entertainment's dominance in Maine's online poker scene is further solidified by its existing sports betting agreements with the tribal groups. The company operates under three skins: Caesars Palace, Caesars Sportsbook & Casino, and Horseshoe. Although Caesars has not explicitly outlined a plan for poker, a launch on one of these platforms seems likely.

However, the Passamaquoddy Tribe, which partners with DraftKings for sports betting, has yet to announce a partnership for online casino operations. This leaves room for other operators to potentially reach a deal, though DraftKings does not have an online poker platform. If the Passamaquoddy Tribe signs an agreement with another operator, poker players in Maine may be left with only one option.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
