Brazil Dominates Online Poker in 2022 with 38 Players in Global Top 100
Brazil has solidified its position as a powerhouse in online poker, with 38 players in the global top 100 according to the Pocket Fives ranking. This achievement marks a record for any country in the online poker scene.
The top-ranked Brazilian player is Tauan Naves, who leads the global ranking with 11,206 points. Naves, a 34-year-old from Goiás, has accumulated 59 titles and a career total of US$ 4.5 million in winnings. His recent successes include three of the four largest prizes of his career in the beginning of 2022.
Brazil's dominance extends to the top 20 of the Pocket Fives ranking, where the country has five players: Luciano Hollanda, Pedro Padilha, Renan Carlos Bruschi, Pablo Wesley, and Rafael Furlanetto. This means that Brazil accounts for 50% of the top 20 players, a feat never before achieved by any country in the Pocket Fives ranking.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
