Bots Disrupt $12.5M Venom Poker Tournament, Players Outraged
The Venom poker tournament, with a $12.5 million guarantee, was the largest in the history of the WPN network, with 5,045 entries and a buy-in of $2,650. The tournament was won by Dominic Nietzsche, who secured $1.8 million.
Chris Moneymaker and Ian Mactakis also made it to the final table, finishing in 6th and 9th places respectively. However, the tournament was marred by the discovery of multiple bot accounts. The MTT Database Review channel reported several bot accounts, including 'Withia', 'Verucasalt5', 'MReGoR', and 'acquiton'.
The ACR's security department took measures to ban these accounts, but players expressed frustration over the lack of compensation for losses incurred due to bots. Vojtech Cervinka, known as MTT Database Review, has been actively reporting bot accounts to ACR for months, highlighting the ongoing issue of bot interference in online poker tournaments.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
