Boomer Man Wins $1 Million After Chicken Wing Stop, Plans to Help Daughters
A man from Boomer, North Carolina, won a $1 million lottery prize after buying chicken wings. The man won one of the top prizes from the 20 Years game for a $1m payday. Each 20 Years ticket costs $20 and players can win a range of prizes, including one remaining top prize of $1m.
The man decided to buy some lottery tickets at the Shop ’n Save on Wilkesboro Boulevard in Lenoir. After trying a few scratch-off tickets, the man didn’t win anything, but one ticket kept catching his eye. The fortunate man trusted his intuition and bought one more ticket, taking the 20 Years scratch-off game. This ticket brought him a life-changing $1m top prize.
The man selected the lump sum of $600,000 after taxes, which amounted to $432,066. The man plans to put the money in a trust fund and savings for his two daughters. The North Carolina Education Lottery introduced the 20 Years scratch-off ticket on April 7, 2026. The odds of winning the game’s top prize for a $1m payday are 1 in 1,194,060.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
