Top Losers: Meet the Biggest Losers in TV Poker History
Ossi Ketola's recent loss of $17 million in a match against Daniel Kaytes has solidified his position as the biggest loser in TV poker history. This Finnish high roller's defeat has reshaped the rankings of the most unsuccessful players in the history of TV poker streams.
Tang Shuan, a Chinese high roller, has been playing poker for over a decade. He started with lower-stakes games in China and even won a significant tournament in 2015 with a $250 buy-in, earning $280k. Despite his early success, Shuan has lost over $7.7 million in poker. He has won over $12 million in MTTs, primarily at the Triton series, but his losses in cash games, particularly in hold'em, have been substantial. His worst session was in 2024, where he lost $1.9 million in one evening.
Eric Persson, the owner of Maverick Gaming, has also made a name for himself as a significant loser in poker. With losses exceeding $5.5 million, Persson has been a regular in high-stakes games despite his financial struggles. His company, Maverick Gaming, filed for bankruptcy in 2024 due to financial issues, which have been linked to his aggressive expansion strategies and high-interest loans.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
