Better Collective Expands, ESPN Eyes Sportsbook, Trump's Casino Plans Denied
Better Collective, a leading developer of digital platforms in the gambling industry, has strengthened its position in the US market by acquiring a 60% stake in Rical LLC, the operator of RotoGrinders, for $17.85 million. This acquisition follows a significant change in US law three years ago when the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) was repealed by the US Supreme Court in May 2018. This repeal opened up the sports betting industry to state lawmakers, creating enormous potential for business growth.
ESPN, the world’s largest sports media company, is evaluating the possibility of branding its own sportsbook. The company has historically taken a hardline stance against gambling but has recently softened its position, forming partnerships with Caesars Entertainment and William Hill. With the recent legalization of online gambling in Connecticut, ESPN is poised to enter the highly competitive industry.
Former President Donald Trump's plans to build a casino in South Florida have been denied by the Doral city council, which voted unanimously to ban all gambling within city limits. Trump intended to build the casino on the grounds of his struggling golf resort, Trump National Doral Miami. Additionally, Football Index, a UK-based football gambling site, has been ordered by a High Court judge to repay £3.2 million to its users following allegations of operating a pyramid scheme.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
