Bally’s Chicago Hits Major Construction Milestone: What to Expect

Bally’s Corporation, a fast-growing global entertainment company with nearly two dozen casinos across the United States, has reached a major construction milestone for its $1.7bn Chicago project. The project, which represents a redevelopment of the former Chicago Tribune Freedom Center site, spans 30 acres and is expected to open in the spring of 2027.

The recent milestone comes ahead of the planned opening of Bally’s Chicago, which is expected to welcome its first guests in the spring of 2027. The topping-off ceremony celebrated the placement of the final structural beam of the permanent casino, marking a significant step towards completion.

Upon completion, Bally’s Chicago will offer an array of amenities, including 173 table games, 3,400 slot machines, a 3,000-seat entertainment theater and event center, a hotel tower with 500 rooms and a rooftop bar, 3,300 parking spaces, and a range of public outdoor spaces that help connect River West and the Near West Side to the Chicago River. The project is expected to create approximately 3,000 permanent workplaces, boosting local communities.
