Poker Player Wins Big: Asher 'misclick' Conniff's Million-Dollar Month
Asher 'misclick' Conniff, a poker player from Brooklyn, had an extraordinary month, winning over a million dollars in two WPT tournaments. His journey began with a victory in the Borgata Spring Poker Open tournament, where he won $203,231. Conniff's win was unexpected, as he had initially planned to travel to Europe with his parents.
However, a series of events led him to accidentally register for a WPT satellite instead of his planned tournament. Despite the mix-up, Conniff won the satellite and was forced to participate in the WPT championship. His victory in the championship tournament earned him $973,683.
Another notable player, Alexander 'Akademik' Lakhov, won a WPT event in Cyprus, earning $325,400. This victory allowed him to participate in the WPT championship. Sergey 'Gipsy' Rybachenko, a prominent figure in the poker community, sponsored Lakhov for the championship. The WPT championship in Atlantic City had 234 participants, with Eric Panayotou leading after the first day with 262,400 chips. Carlos Mortensen, a record holder for the Tour with over $6,400,000 in winnings, had 51,400 chips after the first day. Daniel Negreanu, with 19 cashes and over $5,700,000 in winnings, was not happy with the tournament's move to Atlantic City.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
