Poker Pro Anton BlaCKSuRGeoNNaiV and Coach Vladislav pravdazatoboy Analyze a Tournament Hand

Poker player Anton BlaCKSuRGeoNNaiV shared his thoughts on a hand from the early stage of a $2 tournament on GGPoker. The effective stacks were slightly more than 90 bb at the time of the hand. Anton's strategy was to isolate 100% from his range.

Anton made a mistake by betting only 4 bb preflop instead of his usual 3.5-4 bb. He estimated that the UTG player would have about 40% hands in the limp, and the BTN player slightly more. Anton's ATo had about 65% equity against the estimated limp range.

On the flop, Anton made another mistake by checking and raising instead of his usual 100% continuation bet. He thought he should have folded on the river as there was no value and the flush was closed. Anton's coach, Vladislav pravdazatoboy, suggested that isolating the entire range without position was a bad idea and advised a bet size of 5-6 bb for isolation without position. Vladislav also advised playing straightforwardly against presumed recreational players and suggested checking on the turn with a pair of J's, planning for a check-fold or bluff on the river after check-check.
