Andrey Subbotin on offline poker in Vegas: cash, expenses and love for live games

Why cash instead of tournaments

Andrey Subbotin came to Las Vegas in summer 2026 specifically to play cash, not to participate in the World Series of Poker.

Favorite casinos and limit specifics

He noted that regular games with stakes of $5/$10 and higher are held at Wynn, Venetian, Aria and Bellagio casinos. Andrei prefers Venetian because of its new hall, lack of smoke, and the location of poker tables far from noisy slot machines. He noted that in Venetian they do not play limits higher than $5/$10, and real stakes can change due to straddles and player composition, making the concept of limits conditional.

Expenses and financial result of the trip

As a result of the trip, Andrei ended up approximately $7,000 ahead, which was enough to cover expenses and gifts for his family. He estimated monthly expenses in Los Angeles at around $7,300, making $2/$5 play unprofitable without a significant win rate.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
