Amazon Adds SportsGrid Gambling Network to Prime Video

Amazon has expanded its content offerings on its Prime Video streaming service by adding SportsGrid, a 24-hour gambling network. SportsGrid provides live sports coverage, gambling insights, and analysis, and will be Prime Video's first fully dedicated gambling outlet. It will also be free to Prime subscribers to watch, promising many different shows and hundreds of interesting features.

Amazon's interest in sports is not new, as it acquired the rights to Thursday Night Football this past season in an 11-year deal that will cost over $1bn annually. Prime Video also aired 21 New York Yankees baseball games from the past season exclusively to Prime users, and it includes English Premier League matches.

In December 2022, Amazon revealed that it was considering launching a standalone sports app, which would allow it to earn money from sports broadcasts and related operations and also add content plans to subscription packages. Although Amazon is not directly involved in sports betting, it is aiming to improve its market position by adding sports betting-themed content, as that is what's hot on the market. 36 states have already legalised sports betting, and over $80bn was bet on sports in 2022.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
