Alexandre Veulleumier Wins $1.2M and WSOP Gold in $25K High Roller

Alexandre Veulleumier made history at the 2023 World Series of Poker by winning the $25,000 High Roller event. The Swiss player secured a massive $1,215,864 and a coveted gold bracelet for his victory. The event, filled with high-stakes drama, had a prizepool of $4,864,500.

The $25,000 High Roller event attracted some of the biggest names in poker, including Daniel Negreanu, who took home $50k for finishing in 22nd spot. Other notable players like Justin Bonomo, Espen Jorstad, Adrian Mateos, and Sam Soverel also made the money. However, one of the most talked-about participants was Jake Schindler, known for his online RTA cheating scandal. Despite being banned from most live tours, Schindler finished in 9th place.

At the final table, Joey Weissman was the first to fall when his kings were cracked in an unlikely fashion. Sean Winter made a remarkable comeback, turning 1.5BBs into 3rd spot, but eventually fell to Vuilleumier. Vuilleumier, an international master at chess, credits the game for helping his poker skills, particularly in maintaining concentration over long periods.
