AGCO Reports 91.1% of Ontario Players Choose Regulated Gambling Sites
The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) has reported that 91.1% of players in the province have chosen to engage with regulated gambling sites. This high channelization rate indicates a strong preference for regulated platforms over unregulated ones.
According to the AGCO, only 8.9% of respondents play exclusively on unregulated websites, a significant decrease from the 16.3% reported last year. This trend suggests that the regulatory framework launched in April 2022 has been effective in attracting more players to regulated sites.
Ontario is poised to have one of the highest channelization rates worldwide, thanks to the AGCO's efforts. The AGCO sees a steady increase in regulated market participants compared to a year earlier. Attorney General of Ontario, Doug Downey, praised the results, calling them an important milestone for the province. He highlighted that Ontario's model supports jobs, innovation, and economic activity across the province. The AGCO has also reminded players of the importance of using regulated websites to avoid issues like match-fixing, responsible gambling, identity and data theft, and more.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
