Finnish Poker Pro Yoni Liimatainen Wins Unibet Open Tournament
The main Unibet Open tournament with a buy-in of €1,000 attracted 376 participants, and the winner was Finnish player Yoni Liimatainen. Kenny, an experienced tournament director, had previously only worked on small Belgian series but made his debut on the international stage.
Kenny began his poker career in late 2004 after seeing a poker ad on Unibet while betting on his favorite football team, Brugge. He started playing micro-limits and spent time studying strategy before making his first deposit of €50. Kenny's dedication to the game paid off when he won the Sunday Warm-Up in January 2009, earning over $107,000, which remains his biggest online achievement.
Kenny's journey in poker is marked by his transition from an electrician to a poker room employee in a casino in Namur. He considers his main job to be a tournament director, even though he spends a lot of time on poker. His experience playing in large fields and his confidence helped him in the main tournament this year. Kenny played a heads-up match with Pierre Neveu for a Las Vegas package in January 2008, which he won.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
