WSOP Goes Virtual: Bracelet Ceremonies Adapt to Pandemic
The World Series of Poker (WSOP) has moved its bracelet ceremonies online due to COVID-19, with virtual presentations and engraved 'Online' bracelets. The COVID-19 pandemic forced the World Series of Poker (WSOP) to hold virtual bracelet ceremonies. Jack Effel, vice president of the WSOP, conducts online presentations for winners using Skype. This year's WSOP gold bracelets are engraved with the word 'Online'.
Effel said: “To be able to see it in their eyes, to be able to sense it in the tone of their voice and to kind of feel their emotion, it really makes me happy about getting up every day and working together on what we do,”
The WSOP has asked winners to video themselves opening their bracelet package. It’s not all gone to plan though. Some winners have proven to be on the grumpy side with many not answering the call and other just flat out refusing.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
