WSOP Drama: Damaged Cards, Banned Players, and Big Wins
The World Series of Poker (WSOP) has been filled with drama and excitement. John d’Agostino noticed a damaged corner on one of his cards during a $50,000 buy-in tournament. He pointed it out to the dealer, who called a manager, but the game continued. After the hand, d’Agostino showed the damaged card, which was a marked ace of spades.
Fang Luu, a notable player in omaha high-low, was temporarily banned from the Rio casino. The ban followed an incident where Luu broke a dealer's hand during a cash game. Despite this, Luu has a remarkable record, making it to the heads-up in the same tournament three years in a row.
Prazu Banši won the 5th tournament of the WSOP, earning $320,000. Peter 'iteopepe88' Gehlencher also made a significant win in the 2-7 lowball tournament, defeating Rafael Zimmermann in the final. Phil Hellmuth, known for his aggressive play, finished in 15th place in a $1,500 buy-in tournament, earning over $25,000. Jimmy 'gobboboy' Frike offered to sell stakes in several WSOP tournaments, including the $10,000 stud high-low and the $10,000 limit hold'em.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
