WSOP 2024: High Stakes, Big Wins, and Notable Players
The World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2024 has been a thrilling event with several high-stakes tournaments and impressive wins. One of the standout events was the NLHE/PLO Double Board Bomb Pot tournament with a $1,500 buy-in, which was won by Xiang Lo from China. Lo took home an impressive $270,820.
In the same tournament, Daniel Hashim, son of the 2005 World Champion, finished in second place, earning $180,541. Daniel began playing poker at the young age of 11, immediately after his father's victory in the main tournament. This was his first real chance to win a bracelet, and he came close.
Another notable win came from James Obst, who secured $260,658 by winning the Stud Championship for $10,000. Obst has had a remarkable career, starting online at the age of 14 and quickly rising through the ranks. Despite facing bans from major platforms like PokerStars and Full Tilt for being underage, Obst returned to the WSOP and has since made a significant impact.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
