Willie Hofi Buys Peter Eastgate's Poker Bracelet for Charity
In 2010, Peter Eastgate's name appeared on the list of top poker events of the year due to the sale of his World Series of Poker Main Event bracelet. The bracelet, which Eastgate won in 2008, was sold to Scottish businessman Willie Hofi for $147,500.
Willie Hofi, the owner of City Refrigeration Holdings, has a net worth of £150,000,000 according to the Sunday Times Rich List 2010. Hofi was moved by Eastgate's intention to donate the proceeds to UNICEF and decided to bid the highest amount. He added an additional £6,000 to the bracelet's cost, bringing the total to £100,000. The funds were donated to UNICEF to aid children affected by the floods in Pakistan.
Willie Hofi handed the check to his friend, UNICEF ambassador Sir Alex Ferguson. Hofi, a poker enthusiast himself, won the €500 side event at the EPT Grand Final 2008 in Monte Carlo, earning $120,315. He plans to use the bracelet for further charitable causes.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
