Wild Poker Hand: Phil Ivey, Daniel Negreanu, and Patrik Antonius Battle on High Stakes Poker

A high-stakes poker hand worth $311,500 was played between Phil Ivey, Daniel Negreanu, and Patrik Antonius on the High Stakes Poker show.

The action began with Patrik Antonius opening with a raise of $2,500 with 5♠-5♦. His call was made by American businessman Jonathan Gibbs with 6♦-4♦. Negreanu on the button with 9♥-9♠ also called. Phil Ivey on the BB also called, having K♣-10♦ in his hands.

The flop was 10♥-9♦-5♣, giving Antonius a set of fives, Negreanu a set of nines, and Ivey a pair of tens. Antonius bet $5,000, and Gibbs folded, while Ivey and Negreanu called. The turn, 10♣, gave Antonius and Negreanu full houses, while Ivey had trips. Ivey and Antonius checked, but Negreanu bet $26,000, and his opponents called. The river card, Q♦, gave Negreanu a straight flush, but he folded, thinking Antonius had a four of a kind.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
