UKGC Report: Operators Must Do More to Protect Gamblers
The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) has released a report highlighting the need for gambling operators to improve player safety measures. The report notes that operators can do more to protect consumers from gambling-related harm. The report was conducted by the Behavioural Insights Team and part of the UKGC’s Consumer Voice Program.
The report was put together as a rapid desk review of 53 sources, 3 deliberative focus groups, and 4 in-depth interviews with higher-risk players. The report highlights that consumers consistently brought up the same concern, and that is that while there is technical information about how to play responsibly, it was hard to find and interpret these measures and take advantage of them.
The report notes that all users are approached in exactly the same way, while there should probably be a distinction between beginner and experienced players. The report notes that operators need to be much more focused on providing persistent support for their players and try to steer them clear of harm and be proactive in shielding consumers, especially those identified as higher-risk players.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
