Ted Lawson Wins Big in Pot-Limit Omaha Tournament at Festa al Lago Classic
Ted Lawson made a triumphant return to the big Omaha pot, securing a significant victory in the pot-limit Omaha tournament at the Festa al Lago Classic festival. The event, which had a buy-in of $10,000+$300, attracted only 16 players, making it less popular than the HORSE tournament held earlier.
The tournament was initially planned as a three-day event, but the players managed to complete it in just two days. Ten players were eliminated on the first day, leaving six to compete for the prizes on the second day. The remaining players included some notable names in the poker world. Chris Bjorin led the tournament with 181,900 chips, followed by Ben 'Benba' Lamb with 156,700 chips. Ted Lawson, the 2004 World Championship of Pot-Limit Omaha winner, was third with 144,500 chips. Jim Egerer was fourth with 69,000 chips, while David 'Devilfish' Ulliot and Jason Mercier had the shortest stacks with 48,300 and 39,600 chips, respectively.
Jason Mercier, who had been leading the tournament for most of the day, ended up in third place, tripling his buy-in to $31,040. The final showdown was between Ted Lawson and Ben 'Benba' Lamb, who split the prize money, each receiving $62,080. Ted Lawson was also awarded the Rolex winner's watch. Lawson's total career earnings now amount to $2,244,670.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
