Shiina Okamoto, a professional poker player, has made a significant impact in the poker world. She worked in sales at a foreign investment bank for 10 years before transitioning to professional poker. Her journey into the game began after she left her job and dedicated herself to studying poker theory for six months. This dedication paid off, as she won the women's championship in 2024 and 2025, and took second place in 2023.

Okamoto attributes her success to her ability to read opponents and adapt to their strategies. She spends time studying the game with a community of players online, using GTO-soft and discussing optimal lines of play. However, she faces unique challenges due to the illegal status of online poker in Japan, which limits her ability to gain experience through online play. Additionally, the lack of local educational content and her limited English proficiency hinder her progress.

She plays various board games for five years before starting her poker career, which has honed her multi-level thinking skills. Her ability to read opponents and adapt to their strategies has been crucial to her success. Okamoto's journey and strategies offer valuable insights into the world of professional poker.
