Sean Deib on PLO Tournaments and the Race for Player of the Year

Sean Deib is currently participating in a PLO tournament with a $50,000 buy-in. He shared his thoughts on the strategies and challenges faced by strong PLO players in tournaments. Deib mentioned that strong PLO players often struggle in tournaments due to unfamiliar situations and ranges. He believes that many online regulars make the mistake of thinking that 3-bets are never folded in PLO, which is not the case in tournaments.

Deib's main goal is to win the Player of the Year title, followed by winning bracelets and earning money. He is currently in second place in the leaderboard, with Ian Matakis leading the competition. Deib has been a consistent contender for the Player of the Year title for many years, but this year he finds himself trailing behind Matakis.

Deib believes that the value of bracelets has decreased over the years due to the increase in their quantity. He proposed the idea of a prize pool for the Player of the Year leaderboard to increase competition and engagement. He suggested that a prize pool of $1 million, divided among the top 30 players, would motivate more players to participate in all tournaments, including high rollers, which would bring additional rake and promote the series.
