SCOOP 2020 Kicks Off with Record Prize Pool and Russian Dominance
The 12th edition of the Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) kicked off on April 30, 2020, and will run until May 19, 2020. The total guaranteed prize pool for the three main events is $13 million, making it the largest in the series' history. The series features 240 tournaments across three categories: Low, Medium, and High, allowing players of all bankrolls to compete for prestigious titles.
Russian players have already made a significant impact on the series. Konstantin "krakukra" Maslak won the title of Best Player of the Series in 2019. This year, Alexander "joiso" Kostritsin won a $1,050 5-card poker tournament with exchange during the first week of the series. Dmitry "Chucha87" Popov won the SCOOP-02-L $22 NLHE Progressive KO tournament, while Andrey "Lucky_jew" Popugaev won the SCOOP-07-H $530 8-Max NLHE Progressive KO tournament, earning $124,632. Oleg "Fukuruku" also secured a win in a $530 Hold'em tournament.
With the COVID-19 pandemic causing the postponement or cancellation of many live poker events, SCOOP has become the key online poker event of the spring and summer. The series features a wide range of satellites and spin-and-go tournaments, providing players with various opportunities to qualify for the main events. The high concentration of top players in the series has made it an exciting event for poker fans worldwide.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
