San Man Loses $22,000 After Misreading Hand on Hustler Casino Live
Poker player San Man, a semi-regular on the Hustler Casino Live stream, made a significant mistake during a live poker game, losing $22,000 after misreading his hand. The incident took place during HCL’s Thirsty Thursday Game, where a six-way pot had a flop of 10♣ 9♥ 5♠. The action checked around to the button, where Dr. H fired out a bet of $1,500 with Q♦Q♣. Everyone folded around to San Man in the cutoff, who called with 6♠4♣.
The turn was the 5♥, making the pot a lock for Dr. H, and San Man check-called $9,000 more. The J♠ was the final community card, and San Man checked again. Dr. H pushed $14,300 into the middle. San Man then inexplicably snap-called the big bet thinking he had three-of-a-kind, “Oh yes!”, he said before realising his mistake and exclaiming 'Oh my god. I don't have a five'.
The poker community was divided over whether San Man should get his money back. Alex “Thallo” Epstein commented that returning the bet is standard if the caller can never call. Twitch streamer Kevin Martin said he wouldn’t return any of the money “95%” of the time. Mike Matusow called it disgusting that 64% of players polled would give zero back. Nik Airball, another Hustler Casino Live regular, explained that Dr. H is a recreational player who routinely loses a lot and San Man is a pro who wins a lot.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
