Sam Greenwood's 10 Tips for Poker Success at the World Series
Poker professional Sam Greenwood has shared his top 10 tips for success at the World Series of Poker (WSOP). These insights are based on his extensive experience and observations from the tournament.
Greenwood advises against making bets and raises for information, as it can be costly. He suggests considering the odds of the bank when deciding whether to call or fold. For example, if a player always has a strong hand 70% of the time and bets half the bank, you should call. If you are on the river and believe a call will win 49% of the time, it's an instant call.
He recommends being cautious with contrabets without position, as opponents can make life difficult. Greenwood advises varying the size of contrabets depending on the board and position. He warns against always bluffing with marginal hands, as it can lead to overbluffing. Greenwood emphasizes the right to slow play, especially with strong hands. He advises against opening certain hands if you are not willing to call a 3-bet. Greenwood notes that even older players can bluff.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
