Ryan Shazier Reflects on Steelers Support and Future
Ryan Shazier's football career with the Pittsburgh Steelers ended in 2017 due to a spinal injury. Shazier is currently an alumni relations assistant for the Steelers. He will host his ‘Run for the Black and Gold’ celebrity jockey race and live auction on May 15th at Acrisure Stadium to benefit individuals suffering from spinal cord injuries.
Shazier mentioned that the Steelers' support during his injury and beyond has been crucial. He enjoys his role in alumni relations and connecting with former players. Shazier had a coaching stint under Mike Tomlin and enjoyed it, but prefers his current off-field role.
Shazier believes Mike Tomlin will do well as an analyst at NBC. He thinks Steelers fans should embrace Mike McCarthy as the new coach. Shazier was drafted by the Steelers despite being on the phone with the Cowboys. He found it exciting to see two Ohio State linebackers, Arvell Reese and Sonny Styles, go in the top-7 of the draft.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
