Ponakovs Wins $3 Million at Triton Montenegro
Aleksejs Ponakovs won $3,027,000 at the Triton Montenegro poker tournament. He defeated 76 entries in the $150,000 no-limit hold’em 10th Anniversary Special event. This victory marks Ponakovs' second trident trophy and solidifies his status as a top player in the poker world.
The event, part of the 2026 Triton Super High Roller Series Montenegro festival presented by CoinPoker, created a $11,400,000 prize pool with the top 13 finishers making the money. Notable players who were eliminated early include Tom Fuchs, Danny Tang, Eelis Parssinen, Paul Phua, and Adrian Mateos.
During the final table, Matthias Eibinger held the chip lead, but Igor Yaroshevskyy was the shortest stack and was the first to be eliminated. Jason Koon and Mikalai Vaskaboinikau had a significant showdown, with Koon ultimately winning. Kiat Lee's final stand saw him get all-in after a flop of Q♥J♥9♣ with 10♠9♠, but he was unable to overcome his opponent's hand. Ponakovs won a crucial all-in during six-handed play, securing his victory and the $3,027,000 prize.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
