PokerStars Bans More Software, Full Tilt Plans to Increase Rake
PokerStars has expanded the list of software prohibited during gameplay. The decision came after a thorough review and discussion among the PokerStars team. They will contact developers of existing applications to explain which functions will violate the new rules, giving them time to make necessary changes.
Alex Dreyfus, owner of Global Poker Index, has attracted $4.9 million in investments for the development of the sports component of poker. Dreyfus sees significant potential in Asia, where his new investors, including Stanley Choy and Donald Tang, are based. He plans to start with increasing the number of live game streams and creating new poker TV shows.
Full Tilt's new strategy includes increasing the rake to the level of other popular sites. The increased rake will be applied to both low and high limits, while mid-level limits will remain unchanged. The funds generated will be used to finance changes aimed at attracting more amateur players, who currently make up about 95% of the client base.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
