Poker's Future Brightens in Denmark and USA with New Developments

Poker enthusiasts have reasons to be optimistic as new developments unfold in both Denmark and the USA. In Denmark, a unique poker club called 'Seventh Heaven' is set to open in Copenhagen. This club will also function as a strip club, offering a distinctive experience for visitors. The club is scheduled to open in September, with an entry fee of €25. The first private dance will be free, adding to the allure of the establishment.

The owner of the club, Slim Isakson, has extensive experience in the club business, spanning over 15 years. Isakson aims to create a relaxing atmosphere with low prices, making 'Seventh Heaven' a place where people can unwind in a pleasant environment. The club will host non-cash prize tournaments until they receive a license for poker competitions. These tournaments will offer prizes such as champagne or other beverages, and possibly other services provided by the club.

In the USA, the National Football League (NFL) has softened its stance on online poker legislation. The NFL, which has been a prominent opponent of online poker since 2006, has now supported a revised bill that excludes sports betting. The revised bill, which was supported by 41 out of 64 congressmen, aims to regulate online poker while excluding sports betting. This shift in the NFL's position has been welcomed by many experts, who now believe that the bill has a good chance of being passed in 2010.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
