Poker World Buzzes with Alpha8 Series, Full Tilt Updates, and Ultimate Poker Milestone
The poker world is buzzing with exciting news as the World Poker Tour (WPT) has announced the Alpha8 series of super high roller tournaments. The series will feature buy-ins starting at $100,000 each, with events taking place in North America, Europe, Asia, and South Africa. The first tournament is scheduled to kick off on August 26th at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Florida.
Olivier Busquet and Ali Nejad have been announced as the commentators for the Alpha8 series. Busquet, known for his deep understanding of poker and his ability to combine it with general knowledge and humor, made a strong impression during the WSOP 2011. Nejad, a familiar face in the poker world, is known for his work on Poker After Dark and various other shows. The series will be broadcast on FOX Sports 1 in 2014.
In other news, Garden City Group has confirmed that all frozen funds from FullTilt will be paid out to American players. However, there is a possibility that the total amount received might not cover all the funds initially held in the room. The group plans to distribute the $184 million received from the settlement with PokerStars and FullTilt's owners, but will not cover any shortfall. Players who have not yet registered on the FullTiltPoker Claims site are urged to do so as soon as possible.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
