Poker Players Share How They Celebrate New Year's Eve Around the World
Poker players living abroad have unique ways of celebrating New Year's Eve, shaped by their new environments and personal preferences. Massfinn and his girlfriend have been living in Patagonia (Argentina and Chile) for four years, spending 80% of their time there. They spent their New Year's Eve on an island in the middle of a glacial lake in Chile, learning to work with animals and dance the traditional Chilean dance, cachimbo.
In another adventure, Massfinn and his girlfriend celebrated New Year's Eve in a campsite near a lake in Bariloche, where they went kayaking and played poker. They made anchovies under a fur coat for Christmas and fed it to the campers. Their New Year's Eve plans depend on the weather, either going into the mountains or staying in the campsite.
McFearless lives in Italy and celebrates both Christmas and New Year's Eve, visiting neighboring cities for Christmas markets and playing tombola with his family. He and his family spent Christmas at home watching Home Alone and The Grinch, and listening to Christmas music on vinyl. They received a pleasant surprise from their landlady on Christmas Eve, who left various national sweets under their door.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
