Poker Player Loses Chips After Sitting in Wrong Seat During Tournament
Poker social media influencer Jason Patton, also known as PapaPoker, posted a video of a controversy at a Los Angeles-area casino on Friday. A player returning from break sat down and promptly lost all of his chips after running pocket queens into pocket kings. The actual owner of that seat then returned late from the break and saw that his stack was gone.
The tournament was paused for 20 minutes to check the cameras. The late player’s stack was reconstructed, the K-K winner kept the pot, and the gray-bearded player was booted even though he still had a few chips at his actual table on the left. World Poker Tour Executive Tour Director Matt Savage said that it was important to first make sure the two men weren’t colluding. Savage added that staff should recreate the chip stacks if possible and remove the chips from the player’s stack who sat in the wrong seat.
PapaPoker is driving across the country with the goal of playing a tournament in every state, and won’t leave until he cashes. PapaPoker went on to chop the tournament three ways, officially finishing second.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
