Poker Player Loses $40k: 'I Always Played 7-2 Like It Was a Nuts'
A poker player has opened up about his struggles with gambling addiction, revealing that he lost over $40,000 playing $1/$2 poker. The player's gambling addiction led to the destruction of his credit history, as he mentioned he played poker from 2021 to 2023.
The player's buy-in was $500, and he would play until he felt completely empty. He mentioned that his biggest loss was when he played open-pushes with weak hands, losing about half of the $40,000. His biggest win was $2,900.
The player now works as a courier for Doordash to pay for his biology studies.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
