Poker Player's Intuition Leads to Surprising Fold at Maryland State Championship
In a dramatic turn of events at the @PokerStars Maryland State Poker Championship $1,700 Main Event, a player found himself in a crucial situation. Holding pocket queens, which are typically a strong hand, he was up against an opponent with K-Q. Despite having a favorable position, the player had a gut feeling that this hand wasn’t going to go his way.
Trusting his instincts, the player made the surprising decision to fold. This moment of intuition highlights the psychological aspect of poker, where sometimes the best move is not the most mathematically sound one, but the one guided by a player's inner sense of the game.
This fold occurred at the @LivePokerRoom, adding to the excitement and unpredictability of the Maryland State Poker Championship.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
