Playground Poker Club Hits Jackpot: C$758,000 Bad Beat Payout
Playground Poker Club in Montreal, recognized as the World’s Best Poker Room at the 2024 GPI Awards, recently made headlines with a massive bad beat jackpot payout of C$758,785. The jackpot was triggered on January 22, 2024, during a $1/$2 cash game when two players held a straight flush. The losing player, who held 4h5h, won 40% of the jackpot, amounting to C$303,514. The winning player, named Tsz, received 20% of the jackpot. The remaining 20% of the jackpot was distributed among other players at the table and all active players in the room.
This payout marked the second significant bad beat jackpot at the club in recent months, following a C$1.6 million jackpot in October 2023. The club has a history of awarding large bad beat jackpots, including a record-breaking C$2.5 million payout in August 2023. Following the payout, the bad beat jackpot counter restarted to C$150,000, while the Omaha Bad Beat Jackpot remained at C$736,635, offering PLO players a chance to win a similar jackpot in the coming weeks.
Playground Poker Club is set to host the World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) Montreal festival from March 23 to April 7, 2024. The festival will feature a variety of events with buy-ins ranging from $400 to $5,000, with the C$1,675 WSOPC Main Event being the highlight. Online satellites for WSOPC Montreal are already running at GGPoker and GGPoker Ontario, providing players from across Canada and the rest of the world with opportunities to qualify for the event at a fraction of the price. Satellite events with the Target Stack structure offer chances to qualify for as little as $1, with C$2,500 WSOPC packages up for grabs on a weekly basis.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
