Phil Ivey and Kyle Ray's High-Stakes Poker Struggles in May 2013
In early May 2013, Phil Ivey faced significant losses in high-stakes poker games. Over 4,868 hands, Ivey lost a total of $745,166. Despite some initial success in Omaha Hi-Lo, his overall performance was disappointing. Kyle Ray, another high-stakes player, also struggled, losing over $1,000,000 in Omaha Hi-Lo games. Ray's losses were particularly notable, as he is accused of multi-accounting and sharing strategies with other players.
Kyle Ray's multi-accounting allegations involve several players, including KPR16, SallyWoo, Cottonseed1, Chung ho, and lewisfriend. These players are suspected of collaborating and using multiple accounts to gain an advantage. The accusations have led to a significant backlash from the poker community, with many players refusing to play with Ray and his associates.
In response to these allegations, PokerStars implemented changes to limit the number of tables one player can open at a time. This move was aimed at preventing players from manipulating the game and ensuring fair play. Additionally, Tom Dwan, a well-known poker player, tried to play with Feruell multiple times but was unsuccessful. Dwan expressed his frustration, stating that he had missed six opportunities to play with Feruell due to being offline.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
