In August 2010, a high-stakes poker battle unfolded between Phil Ivey and deprimiert, a German professional known by the nickname Schafsheep on PokerStars.
The match began with a session of 440 hands, where deprimiert won around $40,000. However, in another session of around 200 hands, Phil Ivey turned the tables and won nearly $90,000. The back-and-forth continued with a short session of 176 hands on August 5, which ended with Phil Ivey winning $102,000.
On August 9, the most significant session took place, with 334 hands played. Phil Ivey emerged victorious, winning $372,984. According to Feruwell, the actual win might have been around $500,000. Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
