Phil Hellmuth Rage Quits After Losing $300k in Two Days at Live Poker Streams
Phil Hellmuth, a renowned poker player, had a disastrous two days at live poker streams, losing a total of $300k and eventually rage quitting. Hellmuth had back-to-back ‘appointments’ in California, first at the Hustler Casino Live table and then at the Bicycle Casino for Live at the Bike.
At the Hustler Casino Live table, Hellmuth lost $20k to J.R. in a hand where he called a $20k bet into $47k on the board A♠ Q♣ 8♣ 7♥ 5♥ with K♥ 10♣ against J.R.'s Q♠ Q♦. Hellmuth later clarified that he believed he had A-10 but could have been mistaken.
Later, at the Bicycle Casino, Hellmuth lost $285k to Eric Hicks. After Hicks 4-bet Matt Berkey’s BB reraise, Hellmuth was the only player left in the hand to see the flop with his pocket kings. The flop was 9♦ 10♦ 3♦, and the turn was 8♥. Hicks bet $20k and $50k on the flop and turn, respectively, and Hellmuth called both times. The river was 4♦, and Hicks bet another $50k, which Hellmuth called, losing the pot. Frustrated, Hellmuth stormed off the set, stating, “I quit.”

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
